5 Reasons To Add A Directory Listing To Your App Launch Plan

A directory listing can give your app one more place to be understood and found. It earns a spot in your launch plan when the page, the audience and the destination support a useful next step.
It doesn't replace a working app, and it doesn't guarantee anyone will try it. Weigh these five reasons before you add one.
1. You Need A Short Explanation People Can Share
A listing asks you to name the app, the audience and the main use. Writing that description can expose a promise that's too broad or a feature that needs clearer wording.
Make the page useful on its own. Include a truthful description and a working app or website link, not a slogan that makes people ask what you mean.
2. Your App Fits The Directory's Audience
Look at the actual categories, listings and how the site gets used. Your app may belong in a specialist directory even when a bigger launch site looks more impressive.
Don't assume active visitors from the number of listings or a claim that a slot is prominent. Ask for evidence if audience size matters to a paid decision.
3. You Have Something Accurate To Show
A current screenshot helps someone recognise the task the app supports. Use sample data where it makes sense and label prototypes or early-access limits clearly.
If a listing allows extra images, pick ones that explain different parts of the product. Several near-identical screenshots don't make the offer any easier to understand.
4. You Can Send Visitors To A Useful Next Step
Open the listing's link as a new visitor would. Check that someone can see the promised feature, learn the terms and start the intended task.
Don't link to a private preview or an account-only page without explaining the access requirement. Fix that route before you pay for a more visible position.
5. You Can Judge The Listing Separately From The Launch
Where measurement is available and appropriate, tell the difference between visits from the directory, sign-ups and actual use. Note the period and anything else you changed during it.
Decide what would justify renewing a paid placement before you buy. If attribution is incomplete, say so instead of crediting every new customer to the listing.
If you want to try it, check out PLTFORM's board: a free listing gives you a product page and a board card linking to your app, so you can check the description and destination before spending anything. If the free listing earns its place, Featured adds placement on the homepage and board, and Spotlight gives you a larger card above Featured with room for screenshots and a founder photo.
